Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop Leadership Skills while discovering the Power of Service Above Self

Interact clubs organize at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. The Durango High Noon Rotary club sponsors, mentors and guides Interactors at Durango High School as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills.

Creating angels for La Plata Family Centers Coalition Christmas gift drive. The angels get hung on a Christmas tree at Maria’s Bookstore with a child’s name and a book they would like on it. Patrons then come and pick an angel and buy a book for a family in need.

Harriet is a single mother of 3 children.  She single handedly put her two boys and daughter through high school and college.  She is now raising an orphaned child from her community and due to her connections to people in the US, she is the go-to person in her community to help fundraise for community projects, whether that is taking in children temporarily, making sure recently widowed women in her community are provided for, the list goes on.

Any funds raised through the Interact Club go to Harriet directly.

The Durango High School Interact Club teamed up with The Walls Project and a very talented artist, Maisy Harlan, to create a mural that would both beautify Durango High School’s campus and symbolize the students’ collaborative spirit.  The mural is located next to the impressive IMPACT Career Innovation Center at Durango High School.
