Acquired in 1998 by Durango Nature Studies, the 140 acre Nature Center is situated on the Florida River and traverses riparian, sagebrush, and pinyon juniper ecosystems. With hiking trails, river play, a picnic pavilion, interpretive trails, a nesting bird walk and more the Nature Center offers fun for the whole family!
The Durango High Noon Rotary Club built a footbridge that crosses the Florida River and leads to the heart of the site. Upon crossing the bridge, visitors step into the beauty of the Nature Center.
The Durango High Noon Rotary Club volunteers at Manna Soup kitchen, helping prepare, package and serve food.
We serve hot and cold meals through the take-out window and community fridge. The food market offers produce, meat, canned and dried goods, and other items that are provided through community donations.
The Rotary Dictionary Project is a nationwide effort to provide young students with their own personal dictionaries. Members of the Durango High Noon Rotary Club distribute the dictionaries each year to our district’s Elementary Schools.
The dictionaries are filled with more than just terms and definitions. They also includes a mini encyclopedia filled with maps, facts about U.S. presidents, and math conversation tables. Many of the children who receive dictionaries come from homes where English is a second language and may not have access to a lot of resources.
Each year, The Salvation Army serves more than 25 million people across America – including many here in Durango. That means 55+ million meals for the hungry and 10+ million nights of shelter for the homeless.
The funds raised as a Salvation Army bell ringer make a year-round impact in our community through social services assistance, homeless shelters, disaster relief, children’s programs, rehabilitation services, anti-human trafficking, and more.
